Back From the Mitten

Life is finally getting a little organizedexcept for I have no computer while Steven is at school because we have yet to hook up our p.c.... And my grocery ads didn't come today! yuck

I have a question.... If you moved into a place that was dirty, had a broken fan, the bath didn't work in one bathroom, the shower in the other, burn marks on the light, blinds that don't work, and a urine soaked rug on yuor patio (just to name a few) and have been asking and being told everyday for 5 days someone will be over later tonight or tomorrow to fix it and never showed up what would you do? I have complained every day and they say the same thing. OH! except for today, they told me that someone came and painted the apartment today.... Hmmmm.Interesting, because I have been here all day and NO ONE came to paint! Unless the painter is a ghostie that uses ghost paint!!!!! SOooooo what would you do? Would you call the better business bureau??? A lawyer??? What do I do?????!!!! I have to leave to go to MI Thursday and told the staff that many times and they say it will be fixed before then but I HIGHLY DOUBT IT. Nothing these people have said tome has been true. So what do you think?

Where the Heck I've Been

Friday was our big moving day! And nothing but disaster has followed. We went Friday afternoon to pick up our new keys and the leasing agent told us we would have to wait because there was no appliances in the apartment??? (HuH?) So we waited a couple hours and went into our new abode, where the maintenance crew left us a note saying they had more work to do and would be back monday. NOTHING was clean. There was sugar in the cabinets, the floor was so dirty it made our feet black, neither shower worked, the track lighting that was supposed to be white was black on the top. Etc. etc......


  So we returned to the Tempe apartment to sleep. The following day, the movers came. They told me they had to bubble wrap all of the furniture. Okay, no big deal. Then they have try to have me initial next to something stating that it costs 30 dollars!!!!! For saran wrap?? Are you KIDDING ME?????? I denied and again, they told me I have to have it. I initialed, and called the company asking if I HAD to have it. They said no. But the kind movers still wrapped all the furniture for "free". Which took about an extra hour. Which was about $40 more for them. Then they told me that if I wished to have our dresser moved I would need to go purchase a screw driver. Again, HUH? I have never, ever had a mover who didn't have their own tools. Anyways, 4 hours ,$318 later and a HUGE scratch on the desk (which I think was intentional) we had all our furniture in the new place. And the beautiful new furniture came.
  My sister and I are unpacking and I got to put something in outside storage and guess what... There is no outside storage. We were told ALL units had it, that's the only reason we moved here. The office was closed yesterday so I didn't get the chance to complain until this morning. Oh and did I tell you that i get no phone service here? Verizon told me they would kindly cancel my contract if i paid the $300 early termination fee, because it is not their fault that I moved to a location that has no service. I'm sorry, but what kind of phone company has no service in Phoenix? It's not like I moved to Bumblebee. And were practyically downtown!!! Sooooo tomorrow I get to call and yell at Verizon, and have a meeting with the leasing team to discuss how we will be reimbursed for this huge pain in the butt.


That is where I'm at right now. losing my mind, angry and sad!!!!! :(  Everything aside, I love our new place, and it might be a blessing in disguise everything wourked out the way it did because the office staff was talking about possibly deducting money from our rent for our trouble. Keep your fingers crossed! I soooo owish I could be shopping instead of worrying about this fiasco!!! You know, I haven't even seen a CVS since weve moved???? **GASP****

Friday the 13th: Fun Ideas and Things to do!!!

1) Stay at a spooky hotel!!! Have you ever been to the Jerome Grand? My family has stayed there many times and it is always a blast! The hotel sits high on Cleopatra Hill, overlooking the town of Jerome and the Verde Valley. Once a hospital, it can be VERY creepy at times! We have taken quite a few "orb" pictures there! While your there, if you want to splurge head to The Asylum on the hotels main floor. It has a HUGE wine list and lobster and filet mignon to die for!!! (no pun intended!)

2)Head to the Officer's Quarters at Fort Huachuca!Built in the 1850s, the first post hospital was named the Carleton House, after Colonel James Carleton. More than one hundred fifty years ago, a woman named Charlotte gave birth to a stillborn son; she died a few days later. Angry that her son did not receive a proper burial, Charlotte still haunts the building. Now used as a residence for officers and their families, many have reported strange happenings. Some families claim that their pets go berserk during the night, while others report a cold spot affectionately known as “Charlotte’s Corner.” Legend has it that this spot is located near the staircase that once led to the morgue. Some have even seen Charlotte, who is described as a tall, beautiful blonde who wears long flowing gowns.

3)  Have Dinner! Casey Moore's Oyster House in Tempe offers up a variety of delicious food at an affordable price!There apparently is a woman in the upstairs banquet room that didn't make a reservation!

4)Make it a stay at home frightfest! Rent some scary movies and cuddle up on the couch!

5) Since there's free admission at National Parks, why not head to Montezuma's Castle. Not only is it breathtaking to see such an ancient structure, but the Sinagua Indians are said to reappear from time to time.

6)Visit Congress, Stanton or Octave. I have been to all three and they are amazing! Real ghost towns in the middle of the desert! Make sure to pack the car with emergency essentials, as the roads get quite primitive.

7) Adopt a black cat or kitten at a shelter. Did you know these adorable babies are less likely to be adopted because of their color and the superstition that goes along with it? *"A 2002 study in the Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science that examined adoption rates over nine months in a California pound found that black cats were about half as likely to be adopted as tabby cats and two-thirds less likely than white cats. But for cats in general, the odds are not good: of the approximately 3,000 cats of all colors offered for adoption during that time, only around 600, or 20 percent, found homes. Those remaining were euthanized."

Did you know that due to lack of responsible pet ownership and not getting cats spayed or neutered Arizona shelters are filled to the brim with cats? Last summer they were even giving them away for free. The Humane Society of Arizona currently has a special running of only $5 dollars to adopt an adult cat. Every animal from the Humane Society is spayed or neutered; comes with an identification microchip, collar and tag; has received its initial round of vaccinations; and includes a free first visit to a veterinarian.
