I stepped a little out of my realm to do a review for K.T Tunstall's third studio album "Tiger Suit", which was released October 5th and the rollicking first single "Fade Like A Shadow" is a Top 20 hit at radio.
I have to admit, I have never really been a fan of Ms. Tunstall's although KT is a Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum, Scottish-born singer-songwriter.KT's previous hit songs include - the Grammy-nominated "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," "Suddenly I See," Other Side of the World" and "Hold On". When "Tiger Suit" arrived at my door I was less than thrilled to listen to it. Then I put it in the CD player and something strange happened. I actually liked it. I might say I'm on the verge of loving it.
Tunstall has taken mesmerizing lyrics and rugged voice are intertwined with beautiful melodies, tracks that make you want to dance and acoustic lullabies. The flow of the album is spectacular, with chants and orchestras pouring into Tunstall's throaty voice.
Tracks such as "Difficulty" have lyrics that are enchanting, personal and relatable all at the same time. The track "Golden Frames" is a mysterious and sexy track perfect for this fall day :)
"Tiger Suit" is an album I am glad I chose to be my first album review, as I never would have given it a second glance if it didn't arrive at my door. The variety of sounds is amazing. It has songs that make you want to tap your feet, clean the house, cry, sing, laugh, dance and love.
KT will be on tour this Fall (10/31-12/1) and I am making plans to attend when she comes to Phoenix. I imagine her performance to be nothing short of wonderful.
